EPGR’s David Glass Brings Awareness to Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s Association has grown into a nationwide program, offering free resources and services to patients, their families, and caregivers. Currently, there are 6.5 million people living with this progressive debilitating ailment. One of the first established chapters of the Alzheimer’s Association was in Los Angeles. The Alzheimer’s Association prides itself on being able to provide a free 24-hour/seven-day-a-week helpline (1-800-272-3900) staffed with masters-level clinicians who are ready and able to answer any related questions. The service is open to anyone, and people can call at any time to receive accurate and useful information.

An important aspect to keep the Alzheimer’s Association running smoothly is its reliance on volunteers. One of those volunteers is EPGR’s very own David Glass, who shares a personal connection to this organization. Glass’ first legal mentor in Philadelphia suffered from the disease. “My mentor had an incredible memory,” Glass said. “Within seven years of my moving to LA, he started to forget things. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and passed away a year later. It was very tragic.”

Now, Glass will be reappointed as chair for another year. “My work, quite simply, was not done,” Glass remarked. After his current term expires, he will use the additional year to train someone to step in. His future vision also includes increasing research funding in LA to find a cure for the disease.
